WHAT ARE WATER BORNE DISEASE ?

WATER BORNE DISEASES

Water borne diseases are illnesses caused by microscopic organisms like viruses and bacteria that are ingested through contaminated water or by coming in contact with feces.

SOME WATER BORNE DISEASES ARE :

TYPHOID FEVER : Typhoid fever spread through contaminated food , water and poor sanitation.

Symptoms include.

  • Diarrhea
  • Weakness
  • Constant Fatigue
  • Fever with muscle pain

CHOLERA : This disease is spread through contaminated water and caused severe dehydration and diarrhea.

Symptoms include.

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Severe muscle cramps
  • Diarrhea leading to dehydration

GIARDIA : This infection is caused by a parasite . Giardia  come through contaminated water , ponds and steams .

Symptoms include.

  • Weight loss
  • Bloating
  • Abdominal pain and cramps
  • Diarrhea

DYSENTERY : An intestinal infection characterized by severe diarrhea . it can be caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites in food and water.

Symptoms include.

  • Fever
  • Dehydration
  • Stomach pain and cramps
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea with blood in stool

ESCHERICHIA COLI (E.coli) : E.coli is a bacteria with various strains .

HEPATITIS A : Hepatitis A is a liver infection caused by consuming contaminated food and water or by coming in close contact with infected person.

Symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Jaundice
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Fever
  • Loss of appetite

SALMONELLA  : Salmonella come from ingesting food or water contaminated with feces.

Symptoms include :

  • Blood in stool
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea

CAUSES OF WATERBORNE DISEASES

  • Water borne diseases are caused by pathogens such as , bacteria , viruses and parasites which are spread due to direct contact with polluted water sources or faeces ,
  • Also spread by touching infected surfaces and being in close contact with infected persons.
  • Lack of adherence to proper hygiene and sanitation .

Herbal remedies for water borne disease

 HOLY BASIL

TULSI has antimicrobial and immunomodulatory  properties. This herb is endowed with antibacterial properties and helpful for any bacterial infection .

GARLIC

Garlic have anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties . it boosts immunity and detoxifies blood .

MINT JUICE

Mint has a soothing impact on stomach. Add 1 teaspoon of mint extract and lemon juice with honey.

BUTTERMILK

Buttermilk with its anti-inflammatory properties.

TURMERIC

Turmeric contains curcumin which is known for its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

FENUGREEK SEEDS

Fenugreek seeds with its antioxidant , anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties good for immune system.

NEEM

Neem is a potent antibacterial and antiviral herb . Drinking neem juice or using neem leaves in bathing water may be beneficial.     

TRIPHALA
