Introduction

Osteoarthritis is a serious disease that affects several people across the world. It is a degenerative joint disease that primarily affects the cartilage, the protective tissue covering the ends of bones in joints. Osteoarthritis also causes stiffness in the joints. Osteoarthritis mostly affects the hands, knees, joints, hips and spine. The physical disability arsing due to osteoarthritis reduces functional capacity and quality of life leading to further morbidity.

 CAUSES OF OSTEOARTHRITIS

  • Age: Osteoarthritis becomes more common with age as the natural wear and tear on joints accumulates.
  • Joint Injury
  • Genetics
  • Obesity
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Chronic stress
  • Staying up late at night
  • Consuming excessive of food which has dry characteristics
  • Chronic indigestion and malnutrition
  • Gender: Osteoarthritis is more common in women, particularly after menopause.

SYMPTOMS OF OSTEOARTHRITIS

  • Joint Pain: Persistent pain in the affected joint, which may worsen during or after activity
  • Crackling and creaking sound accompanied by pain during movement
  • Stiffness in the joint, especially in the morning or after periods of inactivity, which typically improves with movement
  • Limited range of motion
  • Swelling or tenderness around the joint
  • Deformation of joints as the condition progresses
  • Grating crunching sensation (crepitus) when the joint is moved
  • Bony Enlargements
  • Muscular weakness around the joint due to disuse or pain

AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF OSTEOARTHRITIS

In Ayurveda osteoarthritis is Vata dosha predominant condition along with the involvement of Pitta and Kapha doshas. Ayurvedic treatment prevents further deterioration in the joints and rejuvenates damaged cartilage. Ayurveda suggested some special treatments for lubrication and strengthening of joints as well to reduce Vata levels and improving joint health

  1. Pain O kill tablet

Pain o kill tablet is ayurvedic and purely herbal formulation. It helps to relax your muscles and muscles cramps thus relieving pain.
