by Dr Vaid Ji on Dec 05, 2024
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses, which are air-filled cavities in the skull. It can be caused by infections, allergies, or structural issues. Common symptoms include nasal congestion, headache, facial pain or pressure, runny nose, and sometimes fever.
Types of Sinusitis
- Acute Sinusitis: Symptoms last less than 4 weeks.
- Chronic Sinusitis: Symptoms last more than 12 weeks, often recurring.
- Subacute Sinusitis: Symptoms last between 4-12 weeks.
Ayurveda Perspective on Sinusitis
In Ayurveda, sinusitis is linked to an imbalance of Kapha dosha (responsible for mucus production) and aggravated Vata dosha (dryness and movement). This imbalance leads to blockage and inflammation in the sinus passages.
