MYOPIA

 DEFINITION

Myopia (Nearsightedness) is a defect of vision in which a person can see nearby objects clearly but cannot see distant objects clearly because the image is formed in front of the retina. In Ayurveda Myopia as a result of imbalances in the pitta and kapha Doshas.

TYPES OF MYOPIA 

  • Congenital Myopia.
  • Simple Myopia or Developmental Myopia.
  • Pathological or Degenerative Myopia.
  • Acquired Myopia.            
CAUSES
  • Genetics
  • The eye is growing too quickly
  • Too much nearsighted eye activities
  • Other health problems such as stress or diabetes .
SYMPTOMS
  • Blurry vision when looking at distant objects.
  • The need to squint or close the eyelids to see clearly .
  • Headaches
  • Eyestrain
AYURVEDIC HERBAL REMEDIES
  • Gooseberry/Amla :- Is the most effective herb to manage eye disorders.They are rich in source of vitamin c.

AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT FOR MYOPIA


NETRA TARPANA (Eye Nourishment) :- Netra tarpana involves the creation of a well of medicated ghee around the eyes using a paste made from black gram flour. This well is than left in place for a specific duration , allowing the eye tissues to be deeply penetrated by the medicated ghee . Regular netra tarpan can improve vision clarity and reduce dryness in the eyes.

  • TRIPHALA EYE WASH
  • ANU TAILA NASAL DROPS :- Anu tail is a medicated oil that is instilled into the nostrils.

 

AYURVEDIC REMEDIES FOR MYOPIA

 

  • NETRA BASTI (Eye Bath) :- In Netra basti therapy , practitioners form a pool of warm medicated oil around the eyes using a dough ring. Then bathe the eyes in the oil for a specified time , nourishing the eye tissues and improving vision.

 

  • TRATAKA (Candle Gazing) :- Trataka is a yogic practice where focus your gaze on the flame of a candle.
